BRAVE Harvey Roberts will be ringing the bell at Birmingham Children’s Hospital later this month after winning his four year battle with leukaemia.

The super seven-year-old from Brettle Lane in Amblecote and attends Brook School, is set to have his last course of treatment before returning to the Children’s Hospital on August 30 for one final time.

Now Harvey’s relieved mum Faye Bentley is determined to do her bit and give something back.

She said: “When Harvey became diagnosed with leukaemia you just become very focused. I knew I had to get him right and you just get on with it.

“I think of ourselves as very lucky because I’ve made friends with people who have lost children.

“I made a lot friends when Harvey was first diagnosed and we had quite a bit of help. It must be very restrictive for those people who don’t have a support network to help them.

“As a result, I wanted to give something back."

Harvey’s dad, Paul Roberts, who runs his own civil engineering business, has already pulled out all the stops by walking 50 miles from Bourton on the Water in the Cotswolds to the Tenth Lock at The Dell in Brierley Hill.

His epic effort took 17 hours but he managed to raise £1,600 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Now Faye, who works at Haybridge High School in Hagley, hopes to be equally successful with a charity night at the Spring Meadow Social Club in Old Hill on September 9.

Tickets are quickly selling out fast but Faye could do with some help raising raffle prizes to auction off.
