AN appeal has been launched after a motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in crash near Alvechurch.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the rider was hurt in a crash on the A441 Birmingham Road between junction two of the M42 and Hopwood.

They are investigating the cause of the collision, at 4.45pm on Sunday (July 31).

It involved a Ford Tourneo Connect car and a Yamaha XJR 1300 motorcycle.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "The rider of the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

"Anyone who saw the collision, or may have captured it on dash cam, is asked to please get in touch."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said the rider was fighting for his life in a critical condition when he arrived at A&E and that paramedics found bystanders caring for the man when they arrived at the scene.
