ORGANISERS of the first ever Environmentally Studley Festival will be hoping the event leaves a last legacy.

The objective of the festival which ran from June 18 to July 2, was to encourage residents to think, live and work more sustainably.

As a result, residents, groups and businesses were invited to commit to more sustainability by making pledges, which were collated and placed on a 'pledge tree' which toured the village.

The festival also attempted to shine a spotlight on what is already being done to combat climate challenge and entice people to enjoy the natural world which is on their doorstep.

Festival goes were able to take in a textile exhibition, special church services, have a wildflower afternoon tea and join in community litter picks.

There was also guided walks on offer through the Heart of England Forest where visitors could enjoy the flora and fauna of the woodland.

There has also been an improvement to the footpath between Studley Cemetery and the Castle Hotel, which will allow access to the countryside in all weathers.

The parish churches of Studley, Mappleborough and Morton Bagot have been awarded Bronze Eco Church Standard and now join Oldberrow in working towards silver accreditation.
