The full route has been revealed which will see the baton arrive in Redditch at 8 am.

It will first complete a circuit around Redditch’s BMX track with members of Redditch Premiers BMX Club racing alongside the official baton bearer there.

Then at 8.15 am the baton will leave for Arrow Valley Lake on a vintage Project Origin motor bicycle, while the BMX club will continue into a celebratory open morning for visitors.

The baton will make its way to its next destination, Bromsgrove.

Redditch Borough Council’s portfolio holder for leisure, Cllr Jo Beecham, said: “It’s an honour to welcome the relay to Redditch, and where could be better on a summer Saturday morning than our wonderful Arrow Valley Country Park?

“With events set for both ends of the route, it will be our pleasure to welcome everyone to take part in the build-up to this global event that’s right on our doorstep.”

Stallholders, music, and drumming will mark the occasion, with everyone encouraged to wear colours of the Commonwealth.

Paul Heath from Redditch Premiers BMX Club said: “Redditch is home to one of the UK’s leading BMX Racing venues.

"As a town, we hosted the very first official BMX race in the UK 42 years ago, so we are very proud to be playing a key part in this once-in-a-lifetime occasion."
