A NEW Lidl store has opened its doors in Redditch, creating around 40 jobs.

The former Arrow Valley Health Club on Battens Drive has received a £6 million transformation by property developer and investor Woodbourne Group.

The store features Lidl's famous bakery, customer toilets including baby-changing facilities and ample parking for cars and bicycles.

The store opening times are between 8 am to 10 pm Monday to Saturday, and 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday.

The site originally opened as Arrow Valley Country Club in the 1980s and was a popular squash and fitness club.

It was taken over by Arrow Valley Health Club Ltd in 2014 but closed in 2020 as one of the commercial victims of Covid-19.
