A MEDICAL centre in Inkberrow has significantly reduced its energy consumption as part of a national pilot scheme.

Grey Gable Surgery has replaced lighting in their consultation rooms, waiting areas, training and team spaces with LED bulbs.

The pilot was designed by primary care premises specialist, Assura, as part of its SixbySix strategy to minimise the impact of its buildings on the environment.

Assura is working to get every one of its buildings to an EPC rating of band B or higher across its entire portfolio by March 2026.

The pilot scheme has seen improvements carried out in 30 medical centres across England and Wales.

Grey Gable Surgery is set to save just over 17,000 kilowatts of energy a year and over £3,000 in energy bills.

Paul Warwick, Assura senior project manager, said: “We are committed to a net-zero carbon portfolio and that starts with making our existing buildings more energy-efficient.

“While we’re designing and innovating to reach net-zero on our new-build projects, we’re also making the small but important changes at existing sites like these - ensuring we play our part in a sustainable future and supporting the NHS to meet its goal to be the first net zero carbon health service by 2040.”
