AN opticians in Redditch has raised nearly £2,000 for the Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Bainbridge Bespoke Opticians, which also has a branch in Harborne has raised £1,900 which will be split between the Harborne and Bromsgrove and Redditch branches of Guide Dogs.

The idea came about after optometrist Steve Bainbridge spoke to patient Morna Farquhar who volunteers, raising Guide Dog puppies.

After Morna explained both the process of training a puppy and how they can support owners with visual impairments, the opticians decided to give their support by donating money for every private appointment booked.

Owner and Optometrist, Steve Bainbridge said: “We’re incredibly proud to be able to both raise awareness of eye health whilst raising money for Guide Dogs for the Blind.

“We thought it would be particularly fitting for us to partner with Guide Dogs for the Blind as the charity does some fantastic work for those with visual impairments."
