PLANS have been passed to build two homes next to a former medical centre in Redditch.

The development consists of two three-bedroom semi-detached homes next to the former Church Hill Medical Centre on Tanhouse Lane.

The medical centre, now called 'The Old Surgery' has recently been redeveloped into 19 new "executive-style" apartments.

Northfield based IYBS Ltd, run by Ian Young with help from his wife Louise, developed the building and has now received permission for their next project.

In 2021 the couple submitted plans for a ten-bedroom HMO on the site but withdrew them earlier this year.

Proposals show that the ground floor of the two homes will include a kitchen, lounge, toilet, and storage under the stairs.

The first floor will include two bedrooms, a bathroom, a study, and an airing cupboard.

Planning documents state: “The site is in a sustainable location with access to services and facilities within Redditch which is the main settlement within the borough.

“The site is within walking distance of amenities, a bus stop and regular bus service. It is considered that the scheme would enhance the district centre.”

Existing trees at the rear of the site are to be retained and included in the garden space.

Two parking spaces will be provided at the side of the homes with direct access off Tanhouse Lane.
