A Worcestershire musician has released a new single featuring Charlie Simpson from Busted.

Nick Tsang, who performs as Amberlake, collaborated with the star for his latest song, Good To Love.

Nick, a former Sunnyside School and King’s Worcester student, has previously worked with Charlie on Busted tours and on some of Charlie’s solo projects.

This included playing alongside Charlie at the Busted singer’s first solo show in seven years at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town last year.

“This man has one of the best male vocals I’ve ever heard and I’m incredibly lucky to collaborate a release with this legend,” Nick said on Instagram, adding that he had been “overwhelmed” by the reaction to the song.

Nick had a successful career as a session musician and touring guitarist for acts including Ed Sheeran, Backstreet Boys and Charli XCX before deciding to go solo.

In an interview with popmusic.life in which he describes his sound as electronic guitar pop, Nick said: “When lockdown hit and touring work went out the window, I decided to start writing and released music every three weeks throughout 2020.”

Songs released include Arms Around Me, which he says he only had the confidence to do thanks the support of his social media followers.

“This is the first track I’ve sang lead vocals on mainly because I’ve never thought my voice is good enough, but your support for my Instagram song idea posts has given me the confidence to do it, so thank you,” he said in an Instagram post last year.

Nick livestreams his songwriting process on his Patreon, giving his supporters an unique insight into where his songs come from and helping to fund the release of more new music.

“I share all my triumphant and frustrating moments I personally have during the creative process,” he said. “I also make the stems from the livestream available to download afterwards for anyone interested in collaborating.”

Other releases by Amberlake include I Can Be Cool, which is a collaboration with Kella, while Amberlake has played guitar on and produced two songs for Sigrid - an acoustic version of Mirror and a cover of Ed Sheeran’s Bad Habits.
