FLOODING in Worcestershire is no longer a “major incident”.
Earlier this week a major incident was declared in the county due to significant flooding.
The Environment Agency also issued two Severe Flood Warnings due to concerns the temporary flood barriers could overtop in Ironbridge and Beale’s Corner in Bewdley.
This evening (February 24) Worcestershire Tactical Co-Ordination Group met to review the major incident status in Worcestershire, and this has now been stood down.
West Mercia Police Assistant Chief Constable Damian Barratt said: “Over the past few days we have seen significant flooding across the counties we cover and have been working closely with our partner agencies to respond to the flooding and support our local communities.
“This evening the major incident status in Worcestershire was stepped down.
“However, I would like to offer reassurance to our local communities that our multi-agency response will continue over the coming days, and we will continue to engage and offer support to those who have been affected, as they continue to recover from the effect of the flooding.”
