THE stormy weather has continued to make its presence felt in Redditch.

High winds have hit the town today as Storm Franklin arrived, hot on the heels of Storm Eunice which swept across north Worcestershire last Friday.

Rail services between Redditch and Birmingham New Street were disrupted on Monday afternoon, while fallen trees have also blocked roads.

Middlehouse Lane was impassable on Sunday night after a fallen tree blocked the route, which had to be cleared by fire crews.

It comes as Worcestershire County Council removed more than 130 trees from the county’s roads as Storm Eunice raged.

Councillor Alan Amos, cabinet member for highways and transport at Worcestershire County Council, said: “The efforts of our highways staff during significant weather events is something I am incredibly proud of. Once again, our teams have worked tirelessly to clear roads from fallen trees and other debris and keep the county moving.”
