CHARITIES and groups in Alcester are set to benefit from the fundraising efforts of last December's Santa sleigh route.

Alcester & Stratford District Round Table have donated £5,000 to 16 group and charities to help the community.

The money was raised from the Santa routes that took place in the run-up to Christmas and donations were handed out at an event at the Hollybush pub in Alcester on January 26.

The donations will help mentor young people, provide access to wheelchair tennis, medical equipment for first responders, and activities for Cubs, Scouts, Brownies and Rainbows.

Alcester & Stratford District Round Table’s chief elf, Alan Evans said: “It’s the most enjoyable part of being in Round Table, being able to give away such a great amount of money to all the groups that helped us on the routes and hearing what a difference the cash is going to make in our local community.”
