INFECTION rates for Covid-19 continue to fall in a swathe of areas in and around Redditch.

Matchborough and Park Farm saw the biggest drop in cases over the seven days up to January 19, with cases there falling by 27.5 per cent with 50 cases recorded.

Crabbs Cross saw a similarly large fall in cases, with Public Health England figures showing a fall of 26.6 per cent to 69 cases.

The area topped the list for infection rates last week but the fall in cases numbers has seen the infection rate in Crabbs Cross fall to 1,005.5 per 100,000 people.

Case numbers also fell in Southcrest, Arrow Valley and Ipsley, Redditch Town and Abbeydale, Webheath, Alcester, Inkberrow and Flyford Flavell and Hunt End and Feckenham.

According to the latest government figures, Batchley and Brockhill has the highest infection rate.

Government data on Covid-19 infection cases per 100,000 people between the seven-day period ending on January 19, shows that Batchley and Brockhill had an infection rate of 1,355.0

The number of cases there increased slightly by 1.7 per cent to 121.

Along with Batchley and Brockhill, pocket of areas still recorded an increase in the number of new infections.

These were Greenlands where infections jumped by 7.1 per cent, Riverside and Church Hill North which recorded a 9.4 per cent increase and Alvechurch, Hopwood and Holt End where the number of infections rose by 2.7 per cent.

Oakenshaw also saw a 9.8 per cent rise in cases to 56 infections while cases also rose in Studley by 15.7 per cent.

The biggest jump was recorded in Winyates Green where the number of cases rose over seven days by 31.6 per cent to 50.

The figures comes as all Plan B restrictions are set to be lifted in England on January 27.
