A FUTURISTIC looking - and extremely loud - aircraft flew over the Malvern Hills last night (Thursday).

People would have heard the CV-22B Osprey flying at 2,300ft above the town at about 9.15pm.

Though the dark skies may have meant people living under the flight path might have missed seeing it - they would have been able to hear the noisy aircraft.

It flew from Hereford direction over Bosbury and Little Malvern towards Tewkesbury.

Its flight ended in Bury St Edmunds, according to FlightRadar24.

Worcester News:

The aircraft is registered in America and belongs to the US Air Force.

The Osprey is the world's first production tiltrotor aircraft which is able to carry out both a vertical takeoff and landing as well as short takeoff and landing capabilities.

Its design is meant to combine the functionality of a conventional helicopter with the long-range, high-speed cruise performance of a turboprop aircraft.

Ospreys can carry 24 troops at a speed of 360mph with around eight hours of flying time –enough to travel comfortably around the length and breadth of the United Kingdom.
