A MAN has collapsed and died at the Pure Gym inside the Kingfisher Shopping Centre in Redditch.
The man collapsed during a workout at Pure Gym last night (Monday January 17) just before 7.15pm.
Staff and members rushed to his aid and gave him CPR, with medics also administering life support, but nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.
A PureGym spokesperson, said: “We can confirm that a member collapsed whilst exercising in our Redditch gym yesterday evening.
"Despite the immediate action taken by members and PureGym staff to administer first aid, as well as the swift arrival of emergency services, the member tragically passed away.
"We extend our deepest condolences to the member’s family and we continue to offer them, and those members who were present during this incident, our support during this difficult time.”
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance said: "We were called to a medical emergency at Kingfisher Shopping Centre in Redditch at 7.14pm.
"Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor attended the scene.
"On arrival we discovered one male patient who was in a critical condition.
"Ambulance staff administered advanced life support but sadly, despite their best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene."
