GOVERNMENT figures reveal the differing levels of booster vaccination take up across Redditch.

It comes as people are being encouraged to take up the offer of a booster in the fight to curb the spread of the Omicron variant.

As of January 9, the latest figures available, the Webheath area had the highest percentage of people receiving a third jab in Redditch, at 68.6 per cent.

It was followed by the Riverside and Church Hill North area at 66.4 per cent.

In contrast, Redditch Town and Abbeydale so far has the lowest percentage, with just 33.4 per cent of the population there having received a booster jab.

Greenlands and Church Hill South had the second lowest, both recording 44.5 per cent.

In the surrounding area, 71.6 per cent of eligible people have received a booster in Alcester, with 68.3 per cent taking up the booster in Studley.

In a bid to boost take-up, new walk-in locations for Covid-19 vaccinations are available in Redditch this week.

First, second and booster vaccinations are available for walk-ins at South Redditch Sports and Social Club car park on Wednesday January 12, from 6pm to 9pm.

This weekend, there will also walk-in appointments available at the the sheltered market area next to the Kingfisher Shopping Centre on Saturday January 15, 10am to 6pm.

A spokesperson on behalf on NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire CCG said: “The Omicron variant is still a concern. It is more important than ever to get the booster to help protect yourself and your loved ones from serious illness, as well as to help to prevent a larger surge of cases and potential hospitalisations."
