A WELL-LOVED Redditch teacher has received a second nomination for a Worcestershire Education Award.

Mark Abbott, teacher at St George’s C of E School, has received another nomination for Teacher of the Year award.

Mr Abbott previously worked at Crabbs Cross Academy in Redditch before transferring to St George’s in 2019 when the school joined the Endeavour Academy Trust.

Parent Leanne Dixon thanked Mark for his helpful and welcoming attitude whilst teaching at Crabbs Cross.

She said: “Mr Abbott is a very humble, special teacher who worked with my daughter during his time working at Crabbs Cross Academy.

“He is so helpful and always had a smile to welcome the children into class every day.

“My daughter loved being in his class and I felt so comfortable knowing she would be looked after thoroughly whilst in his care.

“He worked hard all throughout the lockdown period to help children learn and prosper in their lives and in their work.

“Mr Abbott always goes above and beyond to be the best possible teacher he can be.

“He thinks it’s all part and parcel of the job but in reality, he is a very special teacher and all the children love having him to teach them.”

In response to the nomination, Mark, who has been teaching for 15 years said: “I was genuinely touched reading all the comments on social media from my first nomination.

“I am very fortunate that I have one of the best jobs in the world.

“It sounds like a cliche but I’m just doing my job.

“I don’t think I am doing any more or any less that of the teachers at St George’s. We all do it because we care.”
