A CAR which crashed in Redditch injuring two men was being chased by police, it has been revealed.
The Ford Fiesta overturned on Dagnell End Road in Beoley on Sunday (November 21) night with the road blocked in both directions for hours.
Two men were hurt - with one man taken to the QE with serious injuries - the other suffered less serious injuries.
Now West Mercia Police has said that, at the time of the collision, the car was being pursued by its officers.
The chase began on the M42, near Alvechurch, when officers spotted the car speeding at around 11.15pm.
A spokesman said: "A police vehicle observed a Ford Fiesta driving with excessive speed on the M42 near Junction Two.
"The vehicle was indicated to stop by the police vehicle but failed to do so.
"This car exited the motorway and subsequently came to a stop on Dagnell End Road in Redditch following a collision.
"The driver of the Fiesta sustained serious injuries in the collision.
"The passenger sustained minor injuries.
"Both were transported by ambulance to hospital.
"The road was closed for some time while investigation work was carried out."
West Mercia Police said the incident had been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
