A WELL-LOVED teacher at a Redditch school has been nominated for a prestigious education award.

Holly Adams, teacher at Arrow Valley First School, has been recognised for going above and beyond for pupils and parents.

She has been nominated for the Teacher of the Year Award as part of the Worcestershire Education Awards 2022.

Miss Adams is a year one and year two teacher and assistant head for inclusion.

She was nominated by parent, Emma Watson, who said: “My daughter, Amy, was struggling and Holly and the head teacher, Sarah Allen, within three of four days had set up counselling sessions for her and since then her behaviour has improved so much.

“When we were in lockdown and the children were being home-schooled, Holly had laptops and food parcels delivered to my house as I am on low income.

“Without Holly’s help, we would not have been able to do the work in lockdown. I just want to say a massive thank you!”

Responding to the nomination, Holly Adams who has been teaching since 2004, said: “I am so overwhelmed. I have only told a few people and I am not usually one to be lost for words!

“It makes such a difference for someone to say something positive and do something like this.

“I am over the moon!”
