A REDDITCH nurse has raised over £1,000 for charity after taking part in the London Marathon.

Amy Pearsall, a general practice nurse at Dow Surgery, has raised £1,150 for Primrose Hospice after completing the epic challenge.

Despite a foot injury, Amy powered on to complete the gruelling 26.2-mile course.

Amy, aged 35, said: “I chose Primrose Hospice as my chosen charity because I feel it offers the most amazing care for those that need it at a time when it's potentially the hardest for both the patient and their families.

“It's a wonderful local charity and wanted to help raise money if I could.

“The marathon was the hardest yet the most amazing experience I've had and I'll always remember it.”

Amy also attended the hospice’s recent event for general practitioners, where nurses and staff showcase the support Primrose Hospice offers.

This includes support for people living with life limiting illnesses as well as the Family Support Service which offers individualised support to adults and children, including a counselling service, benefits advice, and complementary therapies.

Olivia Tomkinson, community fundraiser at Primrose Hospice said: “We are so pleased that Amy chose to support Primrose Hospice through her amazing running efforts!

“The money that has been raised so far will help Primrose Hospice provide continued vital support to our local community.”
