A YOUNG Redditch baker has quit her job to open a cake shop in Bromsgrove – turning a passionate hobby into a career.

Holly Lewis, at the tender of age of 22 is set to open her first shop on Saturday, October 16 selling all thing sweet and delicious.

Her brand ‘Holly Berry Bakes’ has grown from strength to strength and has acquired a premises in Sugarbrook Road, Aston Fields which has a bakery and a shop front section.

Complete with a flower wall, lights, and a counter to sell her treats, Holly, with the help of boyfriend has transformed an empty industrial unit into her dream bakery.

Holly said: “I am so excited but also very nervous because I am doing this all on my own.

“Baking has always been a passion of mine, but I was furloughed in lockdown, and I had nothing else to do.

“I spent all my time baking and I loved it so I thought I would start selling my bakes.”

Holly made an Instagram account to document her creations in May 2020 but soon the demand grew for Holly to start a ‘side hustle’.

Holly says her most popular bake is brownies, but she creates a selection of sweet treats such as celebration cakes, cupcakes, cookies and special occasion treat boxes.

“I left my job as an administrator in May 2021, and I have not looked back”, added Holly.

“My dad inspired me to do it as I am still living at home so there is not better time financially to start a new business.

“I didn’t know what I wanted to do it as a career for so long. Then the opportunity just fell to me. If anyone else was thinking of starting a business, then just go for it!”
