REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean has a new role in government following the Prime Minister's cabinet reshuffle.

Rachel has been appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Home Office, where she will serve under Home Secretary Priti Patel.

The new role follows Rachel's previous position as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport.

Rachel Maclean, MP for Redditch, said: “After a wonderful 18 months at the Department for Transport, it was an honour to be asked by the Prime Minister to move to the Home Office.

“I am hugely looking forward to working with Home Secretary Priti Patel and the entire Home Office team. I will have more to say on my specific responsibilities soon.

“The Home Office plays a vital and pivotal role in tackling the issues my constituents care most about, from tacking violence against women and girls, tackling illegal migration, cutting crime and making our communities safer.

“As my constituents have seen, my work in Government so far has not stopped me from focussing on Redditch’s priorities, and I will continue in that spirit in this new role as nothing is going to stop me from fighting to return services to the Alexandra Hospital.”
