LEISURE centres in Studley and Alcester are set for a boost after council bosses signed a new leisure management agreement.

Studley Leisure Centre and The Greig Leisure Centre in Alcester are set to benefit from the agreement between Stratford-on-Avon District Council and SLM Ltd.

The agreement will run for an initial 10-year period with the option to extend for two periods of up to 5 years each, with a maximum total contract term of 20 years.

The Greig Leisure Centre is set to get a new group cycyling studio, a new gym with the latest Technogym equipment and enhanced fitness offering.

Meanwhile, Studley Leisure Centre will benefit from a poolside refurbishment with sensory lighting and new changing facilities.

The partnership will see a total investment in excess of £3million over the next 12-15 months across the leisure centres in the Stratford district.

Cllr Matt Jennings, Culture, Tourism and Leisure Portfolio says: "The District Council has worked with SLM for a number of years, and they are a leader in their field with 34 years of experience in the leisure industry.

"The council is making significant investments and the new contract will boost and build upon our extensive leisure offer.  SLM has demonstrated its experience, commitment, innovation and ambition to work in partnership with the council to maximise benefits from investment into leisure facilities through improved quality of service and increased participation, whilst supporting improved health and wellbeing.

"We are committed to providing residents, of all ages and abilities, with access to a range of exciting opportunities to get involved in sport and physical activity and continue to bring the benefits of a more active life.  Our new contract will look at introducing a range of options within our leisure centres, parks and open spaces and within the wider local community.
