POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a fatal crash on the A46 in Alcester yesterday evening (July 14).
Officers responded to reports of a crash involving a car and a bicycle on the northbound carriageway of the A46 between Salford Priors and Alcester at approximately 7.20pm.
Ambulance crews, paramedics and an air ambulance were in attendance but despite best efforts, the cyclist, a 47-year-old-man from Birmingham, was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is believed that the deceased had been taking part in an organised cycle time trial event at the time of the incident.
The driver of the vehicle was assessed by paramedics and released.
The cyclist's next of kin have been informed.
A police spokesperson said: "If anyone saw the incident or has dash-cam or other video footage, please call 101 quoting incident reference 388 of 14 July 2021."
