THREE beer and cider weekends have been arranged to make up for this year’s Bromsgrove Beer and Cider Festival being cancelled.

Covid restrictions meant the popular annual event was pulled for the second year running last month, but organisers have decided to organise new regional events as a substitute.

They will see a treasure hunt set up with participating pubs, with the prize of a day trip for a family of six on the narrowboat Cecilia, donated by the Worcester, Birmingham and Droitwich Canals Society, up for grabs.

The events will run in Droitwich on August 7 and 8; Redditch on August 14 and 15; and Bromsgrove on August 21 and 22.

Event organiser, Dave Wheeler, said: “There was no way we could run the festival under the current restrictions and felt it was only right we should leave the task of providing Covid-safe places to enjoy a beer or cider to the professionals, ie our local publicans, as they have the knowledge and experience for operating under the current restrictions.

“So we would like to encourage pubgoers and their families to get back out to their local pubs, enjoy some great local beers and ciders and provide much-needed support to an industry which has suffered more than most over the last 15 months.”
