AFTER years of living with body dysmorphia and low self-esteem, a Redditch woman has used her experience to offer female empowerment through training and products.

Sara Prescott, aged 30, founded Worthy Woman after low self-esteem and body dysmorphia stole much of the early years of her life from her.

She said: “I remember just having it for as long as I could remember.

”I would naturally talk about myself in a negative light and wouldn’t think to change it because it was all I knew.

“I, like many who suffer from low self-esteem, just accepted that I had it. But the more you embrace it the worse it becomes – there was a period of four years where I couldn't bear to look in a mirror because I felt as though I didn’t look like everybody else. I couldn't possibly find anything that I liked about myself and, as a result, had no self-worth. I was lost.”

The breaking point for Sara came when she was 14 years old, when she broke down in tears at the prospect of having her make-up removed in the middle of a shop.

Redditch Advertiser:

“At that point, I knew I couldn’t continue living like that,” she said.

“So I spent the next few years making changes to my core belief system, challenging myself about how I viewed my image.

“I spent so much time researching - reading books, watching YouTube videos and attending personal development seminars. I became engrossed in just learning how to evolve as a person – something that many of us just don’t think about enough.

“No matter who you are, beliefs are just beliefs, and they can be changed. So many people, women, in particular, suffer like I did but don’t have the initiative to research and take.”

After graduating from university, Sara started her first business as a beauty product designer at 22.

She added: “I was always thoroughly passionate about designing products that would benefit women in business, which in turn grew this overwhelming passion to guide and help women who struggle with their self-esteem and lack of confidence.

“So, I set up Worthy Woman to offer products and training that involve everything I’ve learned and all the techniques I’ve used, giving women a clear, step-by-step guide on how to change their belief systems and overcome the barriers that low self-esteem creates.”

Now, Sara is a Certified Empowerment Coach, Life Coach, NLP Trainer Master Practitioner and entrepreneur.
