A REDDITCH woman will embark on an epic journey this week as she treks from John o’ Groats to Land’s End for a noble cause.

Intrepid Michelle Williams, of Church Hill North, is taking on the walk to raise funds for Air Ambulance UK and in memory of her late mum Carol Lines.

The 44-year-old will be covering 891 miles on her 21-day-trek, and will set out this Friday (June 11). This means she will be walking an average of around 42.5 miles a day.

In May 2018, Michelle underwent bariatric surgery which enabled her to lose half of her body weight. She got fitter and discovered a new love of ultra challenges.

The walk will honour her mum Carol, who died last year aged 72 after suffering strokes and lung cancer. Michelle says her mother, who was a supporter of Air Ambulance UK, will be in her heart and guiding her through the tough times.

She said: "She will be with me all the way. She was very motivated. She was part of the Studley Darts League - they raised thousands for charity."

So far she has raised around £5,000 for the charity. She has been training over the past few weeks and recently completed the London to Brighton 100km.

During the walk, which is completely self-funded, she will be supported by her dad Keith and husband Ian along parts of the route.

Ahead of the epic walk, Michelle said: "Stress levels have gone through the roof.

"I'll be glad when I'm in the car going up to Scotland. It's very surreal but I just can't wait to get started."
