DONATIONS of old school uniforms are being sought ready for a major recycling day to help needy families.

Redditch Labour Party hosts its popular school uniform recycling event at the Ecumenical Centre on Saturday July 31 – and needs people to give up items they no longer need to help make it a success.

Donations of any school items are welcomed, but must be in a good, clean condition.

They can be made at the customer services office in the Kingfisher Centre, Omega Therapies, Hewell Road, Batchley, and Inspire CIC, The Barn, Winyates.

The event has been held since 2013, with demand growing every year.

Organiser Joe Baker said: “Many families across Redditch rely on this to source school uniforms for their children.

“A full uniform including PE kit can easily come to more than £100 and that’s a huge expense – especially if you’re on benefits or have been on a reduced furlough wage.

“Supporting and helping the community is vital to us at Redditch Labour Party – we will always be here for the people who need us.”
