REDDITCH Library will take over as the new location for rapid Covid testing from next week.

It will open on Tuesday, May 4, and the last day of testing at the current site, Redditch Town Hall, will be on Friday, April 30.

Residents living in and around the Redditch area, over the age of 18, will be able to access a free rapid test at Redditch Library, 15 Market Place, between 9.30 am and 4.20 pm, Monday to Saturday.

The opening hours on the first day that testing is available, Tuesday, May 4, will be 12:30am to 16:20pm.

Hannah Perrott, Assistant Director for Communities, said: “Libraries offer a convenient location for local people to get a free rapid flow tests and we are delighted that Redditch Library is being added as a test site to further support our local community.”

“Libraries across Worcestershire reopened on 12 April for browsing and borrowing so this gives people a great opportunity to get tested while visiting the library.”

The new site will run alongside the existing testing site in the town’s Trescott Road Car Park, which provides testing for people with symptoms of Covid-19 in the morning and is a collection point for home testing kits in the afternoon.

Rapid Covid testing is only suitable for people without symptoms. If you have symptoms of Covid-19 (a new, continuous cough, a high temperature, and a loss or change in your sense of taste or smell) you can book a test via www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

The library will also become a collection point for home testing kits.
