A "FEROCIOUS" fire ripped through a Grade II listed pub in Alcester - leaving the building badly damaged.

A total of seven fire crews were called to The Three Tuns on High Street on Saturday afternoon (April 17) after the historic building caught fire.

The quick actions of firefighters prevented the fire from spreading and no one was hurt or injured.

Chief fire officer Kieran Amos described it as a "ferocious fire that could have spread to adjacent buildings."

Crews from across Warwickshire, Hereford and Worcestershire and West Midlands FRSs were in attendance at a severe pub fire throughout the afternoon and night.

A spokesperson from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The swift initial firefighting actions by WFRS crews prevented the fire spreading to adjoining buildings, saving further buildings being impacted. Thankfully no one was hurt or injured.

"Thankyou for the assistance and support from our other blue light partners, WMAS, HART and Warwickshire Police effective multi agency collaborative response at its best."
