SCHOOL spaces have been allocated for children across Worcestershire again, with the majority getting their first-choice place.

Families across Worcestershire found out on Friday which primary school their children will be starting at this September.

98% of the county’s newest pupils received an offer from one of their top three choices.

Nine out of 10 children will be starting at their first choice of primary school and middle school this September.

This year in Worcestershire, the County Council received 6,088 primary school applications, and 2,638 middle school applications.

Everyone who made an application for a primary school or middle school place has received an offer.

Sarah Wilkins, director of education and early help at Worcestershire Children First, said: “We aim to make the milestone moment of starting school as smooth as possible for parents and students across the county.

“It is fantastic that so many of Worcestershire’s children will be starting primary school in one of their preferred schools in September.”

99% of this year’s primary and middle school applications in Worcestershire were made online by visiting the dedicated pages of the Council’s website.

School place offers are available to view via logging on to your account, and an email will be sent informing you of the update.

For those parents and children who missed out, there are a number of routes to either appeal or find a new placement.

The type of school will determine who will consider your appeal - this could be the academy trust, local authority or governing body.

Your appeal should be lodged as soon as you receive a refusal letter, and should be submitted no later than 5pm on May 14, 2021.

Anyone in Worcestershire who wants to appeal their child's school placement is advised by the council to visit www.worcestershire.gov.uk/schooladmissions and download the Appeals Information Document.

The law states that no more than 30 children should be taught by a single teacher in infant classes, which can change in exceptional circumstances.

Are you a Worcestershire parent? Did your children secure a place at their first-choice school? Or were you one of the unlucky ones who missed out?
