A MAN who was asleep in his car while over the legal alcohol limit has been fined and handed 10 penalty points.

Bryan Smith, from The Old Feathers, Welland, near Malvern, appeared before magistrates in Worcester on April 12 facing a single charge of being in control of a vehicle while over the limit.

The 50 year-old was accused of being asleep in the vehicle while the engine was running with 177 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood on Castlemorton Common, near Malvern last August.

He initially pleaded not guilty in November 2020, but was found guilty when he appeared this month.

Magistrates gave Smith 10 penalty points as well as a £124 fine, £34 victim surcharge and court costs of £620.

A Worcester woman has been fined for disorderly behaviour in the city.

Jayne Tilt, of Clare Street, did not appear before magistrates on April 12 to face a charge of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

The 33 year-old’s guilt was proved in absence, with the offence taking place on December 13 last year.

Magistrates fined Tilt £60 in addition to a £34 victim surcharge and court costs of £200.

An arrest warrant has been issued for a Worcester man who failed to attend his court hearing in Worcester.

Stephen Grant, of Clare Street, Worcester, was due to appear before magistrates in the city on April 12 to face a single charge of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour on January 27 this year.

The 27 year-old did not appear, so magistrates issued a warrant for his arrest without bail.
