A REDDITCH couple with a lifelong love of music have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Singers John and Beryl Finch, of Bridley Moor Road, marked the huge milestone on March 31 - with their family sending them a special cake.

Mr and Mrs Finch, aged 92 and 91 respectively, received their third card from the Queen, which is now being proudly displayed in their living room.

The lovebirds, who have lived in Redditch all their lives, were married at Bates Hill Methodist Church on March 31, 1951. They were both active members of the Astwood Bank Operatic Society and of the methodist church, singing in the choir until its closure. They then continued to attend the Emmanuel Church in Redditch.

They have three children, David, Wendy and Jayne, five grandchildren and nine great grand children. Their latest great granddaughter arrived on February 13 this year.

Their daughter Wendy Finch, aged 61, said: "Their lives have been based around music. They were all about singing. It was family, gardening and singing - family was first.

"They are absolutely wonderful, they are so supportive as parents. I can't praise them enough for what they have done for us children.

"My mum's parents got to their 60th anniversary. For mum and dad to get to their 70th is amazing."
