FIREFIGHTERS have been battling a blaze outside Costa Coffee at the Trafford Retail Park in Redditch.

The fire broke out at an electrical substation this morning (April 7) and emergency crews rushed to the scene just after 9.30am.

Two Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews from Redditch, one from Bromsgrove, as well as one from Upton upon Severn, were called to the blaze.

The substation, which is approximately 3m by 3m, was well alight and the fire was fought by two firefighters in breathing apparatus and the use of a compressed air foam system.

Police were also in attendance for traffic management.

One witness said that traffic diversions were immediately set up around the entrance of the park and that staff at Costas Coffee shop provided warm drinks to emergency service workers.

At around 12..27pm, the incident has been marked as ‘stop’ and a reinspection is taking place.
