A MAN and a woman who died following a horror car crash in Wythall have now been named by police.

Jolel Miah, aged 50, and Mussammat Khatun, aged 45, both from Birmingham, were the two victims of the fatal crash which happened on A435 near Becketts Farm yesterday (Monday, February 22).

Two air ambulances, the West Midlands CARE Team, three land ambulances and several paramedic officers were rushed to the scene just before 5pm.

Sergeant Leon Westwood said: “The collision happened when a black Honda Civic travelling south on the A435 towards the M42 was involved in a collision near to the petrol station, resulting in it crossing the central reservation into oncoming traffic on the northbound carriageway.

"Sadly, both occupants of the Honda were pronounced dead at the scene and our thoughts are with their families at this terribly sad time.

"Our thoughts are with their families and friends at this terribly sad time."

One man from another vehicle was treated for serious injuries before being rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham on blue lights and sirens for further treatment. Another patient was treated for minor injuries before being taken to the QE, and another was assessed by ambulance crews and discharged at the scene. One of the victims is now in a stable condition in hospital.

People who witnessed the collision, or have dashcam footage, have been urged to speak with officers by contacting 101, quoting 0440i of 22 February.
