A PLAN has been lodged to convert a former shop in Redditch town centre into a sandwich bar.

Developers, Architecture & Interior Design, are hoping to offer healthy grilled food to hungry Redditch customers at the proposed Church Green West site.

The development would be part of a new franchise of sandwich shops, called Grillwich.

The proposed restaurant will help "regenerate the current building and help inject money back into the community" by providing jobs to locals and providing a healthy option of food, according to the plan. The restaurant wants to employ four full time staff and two part time staff.

Customers would be able to eat inside the restaurant, on seating outside, or takeaway.

Developers are also proposing to change the shop front and signage, hoping to "improve the aesthetic appearance of the building."

A planning statement says: "The proposed restaurant will provide a family friendly dining experience with family seating areas, providing healthy grilled food, as part of the new healthy style of living, something which is limited in the area and would be very successful."

A Spokesperson for agents Architecture & Interior Design said the sandwich shop will offer "positive, healthy products to assist the local community."
