A PLAN has been lodged to build 236 new homes on land in Mappleborough Green, Redditch.

The proposed site is located on the eastern side of Redditch, to the east of Far Moor Lane and west of the A435 Birmingham Road, crossing two council borders.

Developers at Morris Homes have now submitted a planning application to Redditch Borough Council.

Of the 236 homes, 29 plan to be built will be within the Stratford District border, and 207 within the Borough of Redditch.

Within Redditch, 30 per cent of the homes will be delivered as affordable housing, according to developers.

The site would be accessed by two primary vehicular accesses onto Far Moor Lane, as well as minor access for the houses fronting the road.

According to the planning statement "the proposals will result in the loss of the existing landscape features including the removal of a number of existing trees within the internal woodland and boundary trees, particularly the Poplar trees, and the loss of open grassland."

Developers say the plans will mitigate this through provision of "extensive new native species tree planting, proportionate areas of open space and wide range of landscape improvements including native species meadow and shrub planting".
