A BRAND new Co-op convenience store opened in Crabbs Cross, Redditch today (Friday, 22, January).

The Evesham Road shop is around two-thirds larger than Co-op’s previous store which was located further down the road, with a larger back-of-shop area and warehousing to improve choice, range and availability.

The new store is part of a £750,000 investment which supports 17 local jobs.

Running on 100 per cent electricity, the Co-op now opens between 6am-10pm daily, and created six new jobs by developing the new larger store.

Mayor of Redditch Gareth Prosser cut the ribbon to officially open the store.

The shop includes customer car parking, a bakery, Amazon Lockers, John Lewis Click & Collect and Costa coffee express, alongside an improved focus on fresh, healthy produce, ready meals and pizzas,  wines, free-from and vegan products, Fairtrade, food-to-go and, everyday essentials.

A click and collect service is available through Co-op’s own online shop and groceries picked from the local store are also available through the Deliveroo App.

Pete Wainwright, Co-op Store Manager, said: “We have had a great response, it is very exciting to launch a new Co-op store and create new jobs, the store has a fantastic new look, increased range and customer car parking - we are very much looking forward to serving the local community from our new store. We have worked to develop the range, choice, products and services locally that will create a really compelling offer in the community.”
