A FARM near Redditch famous for its alpaca walking experiences says another lockdown means it won't be able to afford to continue caring for its animals for much longer.

The family-run Middle England Farm, located between Redditch and Henley-in-Arden, has been forced to close throughout the three lockdowns and put a stop to its care home and school visits, meaning income has fallen to zero, putting a huge strain on the business's finances.

As the farm enters its fifth month of closure, owners worry they will not have enough money to survive the latest lockdown and are appealing for donations to help feed the 100 animals in their care.

Andrea Stevens-Moore, who runs the farm with husband Tom, said: "Our animals bring so much joy to so many people. From our visits to care homes and schools through to our alpaca walking and goat experiences, it’s our aim to create big smiles and a sense of wellbeing.

"We rescue many animals in need and they have a home for life here on the farm. But the ongoing pandemic has caused great financial struggles and without donations we simply can not continue caring for the animals or still be here for people in need when this is all over.”

Before the pandemic hit, Middle England Farm provided animal therapy for people with special needs and also took their alpacas into local care homes to visit end-of-life residents.

The couple say they have had no support from the government as they don't qualify for any Covid relief grants and are relying on donations to keep the farm afloat.

The owners are now aiming to raise £10,000 to help the farm survive the closure period.

Supporters have already contributed over £6,000 and have also donated animal feed which has been kindly co-ordinated by The Corn Stores in Redditch.
