TRIBUTES have poured in for former Redditch mayor Pattie Hill who has died following a battle with cancer.

The much-loved councillor, who has been described as a 'hardworking' person and a 'true friend to all who knew her,' passed away in hospital on Boxing Day (December 26).

She served on both the Worcestershire county council, representing Arrow Valley West, and Redditch Borough council, representing Batchley and Brockhill.

The late Labour councillor also served as a police officer and worked for Solihull Metropolitan Council.

Councillor Bill Hartnett, the leader of the Labour group on Redditch Borough Council, said: "Pattie had a passion for helping those in need, was always people focused and loved serving and helping the community.

"Pattie liked music particularly Elvis Presley. One of the highlights of her life was visiting Gracelands. Pattie always had a kind word for everyone.

"I have known and served/worked alongside Pattie for over 20 years.

"Pattie will be sadly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Patties Husband Graham Lailey.”
