IT’S December, which normally means a month filled with festive activities and outings.
As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, many of these plans and activities have been forced to be changed and altered.
Thankfully, Worcester has been places under tier 2 restrictions meaning that many venues and shops have been allowed to remain open; you are also allowed to meet up with groups of up to six people.
While life isn’t completely back to normal, there are some festive activities which we are still able to partake in this December.
Here are some of the best festive events taking place in Worcester this month.
View beautiful Christmas Trees
When: Saturday 5 December- Sunday 3 January
Where: Worcester Cathedral, College Yard, Worcester

For many families, a simple Christmas tradition is driving around Worcester and viewing the beautiful Christmas lights and well-decorated trees.
Did you know you can actually book this event?
Worcester Cathedral has an avenue of beautifully decorated Christmas trees on display- and you can view them with your family or support bubble your family.
The trees at the cathedral have been decorated by local schools charities businesses and organisations.
While the event is free booking in advance for time ticket is essential for social distancing purposes.
An audience with Charles Dickens
Where: Tudor House Museum, Friar Street, Worcester
When: 6 December
Cost: £5.80
This unique event attempt to take you back to the Victorian era, with a dramatic reading of Charles Dickens’ Christmas Carol.
It is being performed by the renowned group, Don't Go Into the Cellar, who bring new adaptations of nineteenth-century literature's greatest ghost and horror stories to modern-day audiences.
The performance was pre-recorded and will be broadcast at Tudor House Museum this Sunday.

Santa Trains

When: December 4-20- 9.30am, 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm, 3.30pm

After careful consideration, the government has ruled that this festive event can go full steam ahead.
During this event, you turn up at the beautifully decorated Kidderminster Station, ready to embark on a Christmas adventure.
Customers will receive a drink festive sweet treat as they relax in their own private train compartment.
What’s they reach Arley, you will depart the train I get ready to experience a Christmas show featuring a host of festive characters- you might even catch a glimpse of Santa himself.

Churchfields Christmas Cinema
When: 11-20 December
Where: Churchfields Farm, Salwarpe, Droitwich

If you love Christmas movies then this event should be right up your street.
Checked fields farm is screening a whole host of festive movies on their large cinema screen inside a decorated barn.
There are plenty of movies to choose from including the gremlins the Grinch that Stole Christmas, Home Alone, Elf and more.
Even if you’re a Grinch who doesn’t enjoy Christmas movies there are still some options for you; The Greatest Showman and Frozen also being shown.

Festive Quiz
When: 9 December, 6pm-6:30pm

Cost: Free
Quizzes are synonymous with the coronavirus pandemic and they are a perfect way to stay entertained this December.
This event is ideal for those low on funds as it is completely free.
Hosted by the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, this event takes place at home and allows you to quiz your family on all things festive; there will also be some wildlife questions thrown in too.
Best of all, the winner will receive a copy of the Lost Words book by Jackie Morris & Robert Macfarlane.
Christmas jumpers are also encouraged at this online event.
