THE Kingfisher Shopping Centre in Redditch is set to welcome a brand new department store, which is set to open next Spring.

After agreeing a ‘multi leasing’ deal, the 'uniquely designed' store will be located at the former M&S unit and will feature fashion chain Next as well as coffee shop chain Muffin Break.

Bosses are also in talks to bring an upmarket food hall to the shopping centre.

The M&S branch in Redditch closed in 2018, with staff members transferring to neighbouring stores.

Ken Williams, General Manager at Kingfisher, said: “We are so excited to bring this truly unique offering to our guests.

"The new department store will enable shoppers to move freely between the stores, allowing them to browse the different brands at their convenience.

"I have no doubt it will be a huge hit with our guests and complement our existing retailer mix. "The proposed new food hall will provide a new dynamic and add to our offering, we can’t wait to share more details on this in the near future.”

Next will increase the size of its new store as part of the agreement, in what is one of only two new shopping centre deals completed by the retailer in the last 12 months.

They will be offering its full range of men's, women's, childrenswear and homeware within the new store.

Muffin Break will remain in the same location, upsizing the store.

As part of the development, the shopping centre will also introduce a dedicated click and collect parking area in car park 2, which will be located directly adjacent to the new entrance to the food hall and Next’s click and collect lobby.
