REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean is encouraging residents to submit nominations on behalf of Redditch pubs for the Community Pub Hero Awards 2020.

PubAid and the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group are on the look out to find Community Pub Heroes to recognise licensees and teams who went the extra mile to help their communities through the pandemic.

A Community Pub Hero could be a pub which has offered vital supplies for residents, cooked hot meals for the elderly or kept people connected through online quizzes or chats.

In order to find a nomination Mrs Maclean can put forward on behalf of Redditch, the town’s MP has teamed up with the Advertiser to find a local pub to nominate for a Community Pub Hero Award.

Nominations can be sent to rachel.maclean.mp@parliament.uk. Residents should include the name of the pub and ideally the licensees name. Nominations should be received no later than Thursday, November 26th.

After nominations have closed, Rachel and the Advertiser will then whittle the nominations down to just one pub. They will then become Redditch’s nomination for a Community Pub Hero Award.

PubAid and the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group judges will then review the entries received and publish a shortlist. All finalists will be invited, along with their MP, to participate in an online awards ceremony in the new year when the overall winner will be announced.

Mrs Maclean said: “Our pubs our at the heart of their communities and it’s right we recognise the contribution they have made during this pandemic.

“Even when pubs have had to close due to national restrictions, I know they have continued to support residents. I want to celebrate these pubs and so I would encourage residents to submit nominations on behalf of their local for a Community Pub Award.”
