A Stourbridge church has relaunched its lockdown support service.

St Peter’s in Pedmore carried out more than 250 shopping trips and 80 prescription pick-ups under its community scheme during the first lockdown but had wound down operations – until now.

But as new regulations come into force the group of 12 volunteers have issued a new message: ‘we’re here to help.’

On top of popping to the shops or chemist’s, the group do ‘click and collects’ and provide other general support.

The church is also helping the Black Country Foodbank, Christian Aid and other charities as more and more families are hit by the economic impact of the Covid crisis.

Plans are currently being drawn up for socially-distanced Christmas services, depending on the virus restrictions.

The church has managed to complete the restoration of the church clock in time for 2021, the 150th anniversary of the rebuilding of the church.
