A Brierley Hill man who was stealing to feed his drug addiction has been given a suspended prison sentence.
Nasar Ahmed Hart, of Pheasant Street, admitted a series of theft charges and two assaults.
He assaulted a member of staff, Kyle Nicholas, on two separate occasions and pleaded guilty to stealing items from Savers three times; Poundland twice; and Iceland.
He was sentenced to a total of 18 weeks in jail, suspended for a year, because of his ‘bad record for theft’ and continuing to offend to fund his drugs addiction.
He was ordered to undergo a drug rehabilitation course and must pay £200 compensation.
A Dudley woman who admitted a string of shop thefts in Stourbridge, Kingswinford and Brierley Hill has been given a 12-week jail sentence, suspended for a year.
Violet Sheree McCarthy, aged 30, of Pheasent Street, was ordered to attend a drugs unit and to pay £100 compensation.
Her thefts were from Spar, Aldi, Co-op, B&M, and Savers, involving various items worth a total of more than £700.

John Manoleto Zarelli, aged 45, of New John Street, admitted driving in Stourbridge while banned and without insurance and possessing a Class A drug, diamorphine.
He was jailed for three months because of his record of previous offending and was ordered to pay £128 to the victim service fund.
