THE glowing babies of Halesowen, Stourbridge and Dudley have won two local mums a top award.

Baby Glowbugs is an innovative business which has wowed parents and awards judges alike.

Based in Halesowen but now franchised across Dudley and the wider region, it introduces babies and parents to a glowing, sensory wonderland.

It’s the brainchild of two Halesowen women, Jenni Jordan and Helen Priest, who appropriately met when they were both pregnant with their first children.

Jennie, a school nurse, was looking to change to a job that fitted around her imminent arrival, and Helen, a teacher, said she was interested.

They both had thought of baby classes, and when Helen strung lights across Jennie’s living room and transformed it they knew they had a winner.

That was seven years ago, and since then the business has grown. They have a Glow Hub home at the old Bethel Free Church on Hagley Road, and have franchised operations running or due to open at Stourbridge, Brierley Hill, Wall Heath, Barnt Green, Bartley Green, Harborne and Redditch.

The themed classes see parent and baby entered a darkened room and then be enthralled by the lights, textures and songs.

They promote cognitive development, bonding and relaxation.

“Parents tell us the babies sleep really well,” said Jennie.

The business had been ‘paused’ by Covid restrictions and Jennie and Helen recently each having their third child – within a few weeks of each other.

But they are hoping the Halesowen Glow Hub can re-open soon, depending on government guidance about new restrictions.

In the meantime the pair are bathing in the glow of being voted the Most Loved Baby Activity winners in the 2020 national What’s On 4 Kids Awards.
