A Stourbridge sporting club which has raised more than £1.5m for charity is looking for new members.

Pedmore Sporting Club dates back to the early years of the 1970s at the Pedmore House Hotel in Stourbridge

Today it’s going from strength to strength, with a home base at Stourbridge golf club in Pedmore and a programme of celebrity functions and sporting occasions for the entertainment of members and guests.

One of its founder members is snooker and billiards legend Rex Williams, who was awarded a British Empire Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

Rex, who lives in Hackman’s Gate, is a keen golfer and a keen ambassador for the club.

Rex said ‘As a lifelong member of Pedmore Sporting Club, I have always enjoyed attending the luncheons & dinners and various sporting events & meetings organised by the club and am proud to say that it has been a main part of my life. There is always a great atmosphere where members and guests enjoy themselves and while doing so, think of others less fortunate’

The club donates £50,000 a year, with all money raised handed out without deduction.

The club are now looking for new members and new worthy causes to apply for funding
