A MAN was viciously attacked by a hammer-wielding thug THREE times - yet he is still on the loose.

Richard Polley, 52, was subjected to a series of attacks earlier this year, some with weapons, from April through to July, in Southend and Leigh.

He says he is “disgusted” by the police, who were due to give an update on when the violent man would be arrested for his attacks on Richard, all of which landed him in hospital.

He was also left unconscious after he was hit with a hammer.

Richard, has also been left with a permanent scar after he was struck with an object in Leigh Library Gardens.

Richard, said: “I’ve never done anything to this guy.

“I’ve never even thrown a punch at him.

“I get so stressed when I talk about it. I’ve had to move because of it.

“I’m really annoyed because as far as I know nothing has happened to him and I’ve been in hospital three times.

“I am so angry and disgusted with the police who I can’t get any information from.

“I got a message a few weeks back from a police superintendent saying I was getting a full update soon.”

Essex Police apologised for the delay.

A spokesman said: “Officers have been investigating following reports that a man in his 50s had been assaulted on three occasions, between Tuesday April 28 and Sunday July 19.

“No arrests have been made at this stage and work is ongoing to investigate all three reports, which includes carrying out CCTV enquiries and contacting people who could have witnessed the assaults.

“We sincerely apologise that the victim has felt unsupported and we are working to rectify this.

“The investigating officer and the local policing inspector have been made aware of the situation and arrangements have been made for an officer to make contact with the victim next week.”
