WEDDING celebrations were in full swing at a Kidderminster care home as an elderly resident watched her grandson tie the knot live online.

Wynn Tyrell, a resident at Brook Court in Oldnall Road, did not let the pandemic stop her from being a part of grandson Oliver’s wedding celebrations as she watched the ceremony live-streamed on Youtube.

Ahead of their special day, Oliver and fiancée Eleanor visited the home for a special pre-wedding toast, where Wynn was able to see the outfit her grandson had picked for the ceremony and share a few words of wisdom with the soon-to-be-married couple.

Gill Pratt, home manager at Brook Court, said: “The past few months have been challenging for everyone, especially for families living apart, but I know the whole team has worked hard to ensure residents could keep in touch with their loved ones as often as possible.

“Wynn was so excited about her grandson’s wedding, so she was thrilled when he and his fiancée came to visit ahead of their big day, and the team was all too happy to arrange bubbly so she could toast the happy couple.

"We know just how important these events are to residents, so we’re delighted that Wynn was able to be a part of the e-ceremony on the day – we could definitely hear wedding bells here at Brook Court!”

Wynn said: “I was looking forward to this wedding. I was losing hope, but it all came to life on the day – I never thought I would use modern technology, it’s absolutely marvellous. I’m very grateful.”
