AN ELDERLY man was rescued by firefighters this morning after a flat caught fire in Redditch.
Fire crews from across Worcestershire were called to a fire at Hanover Court, off Evesham Road, in the Headless Cross area.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said that one casualty, an elderly man, was rescued and handed over to paramedics.
The fire was extinguished using hose reel jets and crew members currently remain at the scene.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 8.18am to reports of a flat fire off Evesham Road, Redditch.
"Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a HART paramedic attended.
"One patient, a man, was given treatment on scene for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to the Alexandra Hospital for further checks."
